what's up?

silent treatment

you know it’s going to be a bad day when even the rice krispies won’t snap, crackle and pop at you…

worked eleven hours yesterday…only cuz i had enough. only doing eight today because i am only doing eight.

looking forward to the bomb club show at santa anita. such an interesting location and nice bunch of guys.

in the burbs

i should say, burb.

saw this one back at the whittier uptown show last summer. shiny, isn't it?

waiting by the hotel, in the staging area. they always seem to open the show for entries late, so people get out of their cars in staging, leaving the cars alone, and i take advantage of the opportunity.

slept in, instead of going to pomona, my bad. apparently, my better half was really looking forward to going; but then i said i wasn't, he didn't want to go by himself.

he then felt inspired to go climb that big hill that i stare at from the window, while here playing with my pictures. i've been here eight years, and it was the first time up there. nice view.

then, my younger brother is town for a couple of weeks, so we went to take my parents and him out for lunch. fun time.

my better half really enjoys when my brother and i are in the same room, says we both are cut from the same cloth. our sense of humor is twisted, and once we get going, everyone will be laughing. we enjoy making mother shake her head, and ask herself where she went wrong...

one more busy week, then i'm off work for two. so yay, and prepare to spike the football...

fun land?

so the beginning of the holidays. so the beginning of my annual crap attitude. don't know why. just don't care about the holidays anymore. just want to hide until they are over.

but i do like the time off. i have so many deadlines at work right now. thought about logging on and getting some of it out of the way, but decided not my fault they are letting all that work pile up; i was going to have a long weekend too. i'll be stressed out on monday, but oh well.

anyway, i've spent a couple of days watching game of thrones again. relatives are visiting, and they've put up the tree and wrapped the zillion lights on the branches. they're all helping my mother-in-law throw up christmas all over the house. i don't even want to go shopping.

nice truck. don't think i've seen it before. i really just liked how it looked from here.

still trying to figure out why, or is it how, that business could be called childrens dental fun land. some of those words just don't jive together. or if i let my imagination run...for starters, i envision slides and bounce houses with dentists chasing kids with pointy instruments; maybe closer to a stephen king novel, with dentists instead of clowns...

some guy's thriftmaster

ok, so i didn't find more time to post before i had to get outta dodge and head to vegas. better half stuck at home, so here on my own. again. most every september. for work. vegas is pretty boring by yourself, especially when you don't really gamble, smoke, or drink.

don't think there will be rain this year, so i might get to more than one local car show this week. if they just planned this meeting later in the month, i could go to the big big car show people keep telling me i should go to. oh well. vegas sucks.

typing this up from a random, relatively new food court, with new and improved vendors--previous vendors here really were vomitous. the restaurant i wanted to have lunch at wasn't open yet, and since i was on the road at four in the morning, and can't get into my room yet, just killing time here.

the legends show didn't suck. i arrived before the sun came up. before they unlocked the gate on the parking lot. drove on up past the park, enjoying all the cars parked along the street, who must have been there all night.

at least the old cars have big seats, and room to lay down. makes me miss the 1965 oldsmobile tornado my dad had, that was mine for a short time...trips over the mountains and through the woods, to grandmother's house, we went. frickin ten hour drives. but i could lay down in the back seat, or even up front, on the floor by my mom's feet, and look up at the clouds and shadows i could see through the windows. anyway...

liked this thriftmaster. met a guy named guy, and his girlfriend, still polishing the dust off this car. really nice. seems to be a popular color for these things too, since i've seen others the same shade--is it that year's original color? early morning light is actually making it a bit darker than it should be, or that i remember. maybe i'll tweak it some more when i get back home.

they were nice enough to give me a few minutes to get a shot of it before too many people and cars got in the way. thanks, guy!

el canas

1951 chevrolet thriftmaster truck

went to ruby's first show of the season last night. pretty good turnout—about five rows of cars with some cars up the aisles.

ran into the owner of this truck fairly early after i arrived. have joked around with him for about a year now, but hadn't seen him in a few months, since i hadn't been going to many shows. he asked me a couple of times if i'd taken a picture of his truck. not at the time, no, but i did get a few shots later, including this one. sun starting its way down, and this is from the darker side.

he asked for another one of my cards...lost the other, enjoys reading my blog...i think he's just collecting the whole set. each one has a different car on the back. lol. nah, he probably just keeps losing them.

met one of my flickr friends for the first time...hi there steve! he got some good shots too. go see a few of them here.

anyway, not sure what to do this weekend. big airshow in chino. big car show in riverside. definitely have to go to my son's baseball games. my big bro and family is in town from florida. better half is working all weekend. i think since it's getting late, i'll hit the car show before tonight's game, then do a few hours at the airshow in the morning before the afternoon game.

now if i stop at the train station in riverside, i'll call it a planes, trains, and automobiles weekend. :)

1949 chevrolet thriftmaster

i've had a couple of very long days at work this week. no time to play with my pictures. going to catch some zeebers early tonight, so i'll just put up this one since it's ready.

found this truck at the show in fullerton. don't shoot a lot of these, because they seem pretty plain, but i just liked this pose for some reason.

i have a few cars to work on this weekend, so maybe i'll post more than one for a change.
